To describe the Silent Base 601 from be quiet! as a new revision of its popular predecessor the Silent Base 600 is almost unfair. Its successor is more than an upgrade, in fact it brings with it a series of fundamental changes and updates include a power supply shroud. What has remained, however, is its characteristic whisper-quiet operation, incredible cooling performance, user friendly design and the abundance of space for high-end hardware. As we have come to expect from be quiet!, noise reduction is priority number one in this instance. Pre-installed noise insulating matts with a thickness of 10 mm, carefully crafted airflow, anti-vibration mounts and silent-running fans all help to create an astoundingly quiet PC case.

Stylish, Functional & Incredibly Quiet
Visually the new Silent Base 601 has nothing to hide, the closed front side is sleek and attractive in matte black. This is offset by the addition of air inlets with orange trim, and the steel front panel can also be easily lifted off thanks to the brackets, meaning the air filters are conveniently accessible for cleaning. The rear of the front panel comes kitted out with 10 mm of thick insulating material. Behind the dust filters lie two pre-installed 140 mm fans from the low-noise Pure Wings series from be quiet!
Furthermore, the interior of the case provides more than adequate space for three 3.5" drives or up to six 2.5" drives. Two 3.5" drives can be installed in the drive cage without the need for tools beneath the PSU shroud, with potential vibrations minimised thanks to the silicon anti-vibration rails. This helps to prevent any unwanted vibrations emerging from the drive cage and affecting the rest of the case. If you want to install a further HDD, a slot is available behind the front of the case. With additional separately available accessories up to seven 3,5" drives can be installed, or up to 14 2.5" drives.
Plenty of Space for Cool Hardware
The Midi-Tower accepts motherboards in form factors such as E-ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX. Those wishing to install a CPU cooler will be happy to hear that it is extremely convenient due to the cut out, although please bear in mind the maximum cooler height of 185 mm. The case has seven expansion slots for plenty of space for upgrades and graphics cards can be up to 449 mm long. This is reduced to 287 mm if drives are installed in the way. An optional riser cable can allow the graphics card to be installed vertically.
Two fans are pre-installed in the Silent Base 601. 140 mm Pure Wings 2 fans rated for 1.000 RPM are installed in the front and back - and offer 3 levels of speed control! Additionally two 140 mm or 120 mm fans can be installed in the roof, a 140 mm- or 120 mm fan can be installed on the PSU shroud and a further 140 mm or two 120 mm fans can be installed in the front. Those who opt for water cooling can install a 280- or 360 mm radiator. The roof offers space for a 360 mm radiator, although this can't be thicker than 3.4 cm including fans. Due to the sleds that can be opened from the side, fans and radiators are a breeze to install.
Due to the clever combination of smart airflow and noise-dampening materials on the front an sides, the Silent Base 601 is a superb case that is ideal for high-end gaming and gamers who desire the quietest system possible. The innovative construction of the side panels, the top of the case as well as the bottom of the case combine to ensure perfect airflow at all times with a minimum of unwanted air turbulence. This means that even at low fan speeds, cooling is always optimised. The side panels can be removed at the touch of a button with ease as well, without the need for any screws.
The four silicon passthroughs in be quiet's! characteristic orange help with cable management and the rear of the motherboard provides plenty of space for stowing away unsightly cables. The power supply is installed down below and can be up to 288 mm long. The I/O-Panel is located on the roof and offers a large, elegant power switch as well as two audio jacks and two USB 3.0 ports and USB 2.0 ports.
